Greetings from the New Mules. Allow us to introduce ourselves.
We're a string band whose focus is mainly on the old-time music of the lower Midwest, particularly that from downstate Illinois. We've gathered up some mighty fine players from the area, and on August 2, 2008, we were honored with the blue ribbon in the traditional band competition at the Appalachian String Band Festival in Clifftop, West Virginia. (Click here to see all of the 2008 winners.)
But now don't go thinking we take ourselves all serious. (If you know us, you're laughing.) The thing we value most about these music gatherings is getting to hang out together, catch up with old friends, and make new ones. And as far as our music, we love putting our own spin to these wild old sounds from the country, and nobody has more fun at it than we do.
Here at our corner of the web, you can learn about everything we can imagine you'd want to know about us. You can find out where and when we'll be performing. You can check out our CD, Pride of America, learn all about who and where our music comes from, and listen to a bit of our music too.
If you like what you hear, you can order up our CD. And if you want more, you can click here to check out the mammoth collection from our neck of the woods, Dear Old Illinois.
